Celebrate 103.5 FM’s Birthday Bash on August 11th

On Saturday, August 11, the Sun Prairie Media Center will host “103.5 Summer Bash,” a concert and birthday celebration to commemorate the third anniversary of the broadcast launch of 103.5 The Sun Community Radio. The concert will be held at Sun Prairie’s Wetmore Park at 555 North Street. Festivities are scheduled to begin at 4 PM.

The free event will feature live performances from The Madpolecats and The Kelsey Miles Band. The Sun Prairie Lions Club will host a beer tent, and food and other beverages will be available for purchase from Dickey’s Barbecue Pit as well as a hot dog and brat stand hosted by the Sun Prairie Optimist Club.

The Media Center is celebrating not only the third anniversary of the radio station, but also the impending construction of a new radio broadcast room.

According to Sun Prairie Media Center director Jeff Robbins, there is much to celebrate this August. “103.5 FM keeps growing. More volunteers, more programming, more live remotes, more sports, more everything. The growth of the radio station has been awesome, and it has caused an overall increase in awareness of the Media Center, our TV channels and websites, and the great opportunities there for volunteers of all ages. And we are excited about what’s to come, particularly as our start to construct our new broadcast room.”

Robbins continued, “The current radio booth is in a converted break room, but to call it a room is even a bit of a stretch! We are excited about the new broadcast room and the fact that it, with the current room still serving as a production booth, will increase opportunities for even more residents to get involved in our radio station.”

In addition to the bands and food and drink, a 50-50 raffle will be held with 50 percent of the proceeds going toward the Sun Prairie Disaster Relief Fund, which helps residents and businesses that were directly impacted by the events downtown on July 10, 2018.
