On Monday, November 1, Culver’s of Sun Prairie held what has become an annual “KIDS-4 Share Night” to raise money for the Media Center’s flagship student media literacy program. The night was a remarkable success, resulting in a Culver’s donation of $711.37 to the Friends of the Sun Prairie Media Center fundraising group. A percentage of all sales at the restaurant from 5 PM to 8 PM on November 1 counted toward the donation total. “Once again the Culver’s Share Night was a great success for us this year,” said Sun Prairie Media Center director Jeff Robbins. “We love working with Alexandria and her entire staff at Culver’s. The Sun Prairie Media Center is pleased to wrap up its coverage of the Cardinals’ very successful 2021 football campaign with a live radio broadcast of the WIAA Division 1 state championship game between Sun Prairie and Franklin. The broadcast will be heard on Friday at 4 PM on 103.5 FM The Sun Community Radio, which is also available on tunein.com, sunprairiemediacenter.com, and on the SPMC app, free to download from Google Play and the App Store. On Monday, November 1, Culver’s of Sun Prairie, located at 1501 W. Main Street, will donate a portion of all sales between 5-8 PM to the Friends of Sun Prairie Media Center. The Friends of Sun Prairie Media Center (SPMC) group exists to provide financial support for SPMC and its entities as well as to promote SPMC and function as an advocacy group for the center. This fundraising event has turned into an annual event for the Sun Prairie Media Center. Having an in-person event this year is exciting for everyone. Sun Prairie Mayor Paul Esser has proclaimed October anti-bullying month in the city of Sun Prairie and in response, the Sun Prairie Media Center is collaborating with the Anti-Bullying Collaborative of Sun Prairie to produce and broadcast a yearlong educational series that address a wide range of issues associated with bullying. The ABC of Sun Prairie believes that bullying knows no boundaries and can be experienced in every phase of life and in every environment. Bullying can be physically, emotionally, and developmentally damaging for individuals and entire communities, including people of all races, ethnicities, gender identities, and abilities. The Sun Prairie Media Center is pleased to announce that virtually all programming seen on KSUN now features closed captions for the hearing impaired. These closed captions can be activated by selecting “menu” and then “setup” on Charter Spectrum cable boxes or by selecting “menu” and then “settings” on TDS cable boxes. Captions for individual programs or live streams are easily activated by selecting the “CC” button while watching on sunprairiemediacenter.com. Users of Roku or Apple TV devices should follow their device’s instructions for activating closed captioning. The introduction of closed captioning brings an end to the Media Center’s use of “open captioning,” which are subtitles that are always on the screen and can’t be turned on or off by the viewer. Here’s your child’s chance to write and produce their own videos by joining the one-of-a-kind KIDS-4 program! KIDS-4 is an after-school media production program run by the Sun Prairie Media Center designed for SPASD students in 4th through 8th grade.   In KIDS-4, students are trained in many areas necessary to create their own television and video productions including cameras, lighting, sound, directing, producing, writing, editing, and animation. While students work with adult staff, their creativity is unfiltered and their work is entirely their own. By creating their own media messages, students become smarter and more critical consumers of others' media messages.
