The Sun Prairie Media Center is pleased to announce that it is planning on live radio coverage of no fewer than 31 games for the upcoming Cardinals softball and baseball seasons. Games will be broadcast live on 103.5 FM The Sun Community Radio. Coverage will be split evenly, with 16 broadcasts scheduled for baseball and 15 broadcasts for softball. Anticipation for Cardinal softball and baseball has never been higher as both teams are coming off tremendous 2021 seasons: The Sun Prairie baseball team added to its record of state baseball titles by defeating Bay Port in last season’s Division 1 state championship game, while the Cardinals softball team made it all the way to the championship game before being edged out by Kaukauna 1-0 in the title matchup. 103.5 FM’s…

Wisconsin Community Media, in conjunction with the Alliance for Community Media’s Midwest Region, has announced their annual award winners for the 2022 Best of the Midwest Media Fest. The Sun Prairie Media Center is happy to announce that 18 original shows created for either KSUN television or 103.5 FM The Sun Community Radio are set to receive awards at the fest, which will be held in Madison on Thursday, May 12. Included in the 18 awards is a “Best in Show” winner for programming produced by a senior: SPMC member Tim Hatfield won the award for his short form documentary “The Making of the Wetmore Park Splash Pad,” which documented the construction of the city’s first splash pad. If you’ve haven’t heard Mayor Paul Esser’s annual “State of the City” presentation yet, the SPMC has you covered with no fewer than three ways to access the information. First is the return of “Community Conversations,” which features Esser and Economic Development Director Taylor Brown going over the State of the City, including a look at the breakdown, impact, and distribution of residents’ tax bills, as well as challenges and successes the City had in 2021 and what major steps will be taken in the upcoming year. The Sun Prairie Media Center is happy to announce the return of “Community Conversations” for the second year. “Community Conversations” is a special produced with the intent of informing the Sun Prairie community about what happened within the city during 2021 and what lies ahead in 2022. The cornerstone of the special is the presentation by Mayor Esser and Economic Development Director Taylor Brown of the mayor’s annual “State of the City.” Esser and Brown will look at the breakdown, impact, and distribution of residents’ tax bills, challenges and successes the city had in 2021, what city leaders forecast in 2022, and more. Let the Madness begin. Or should we say “continue” . . .  While both the Sun Prairie boys’ and girls’ hockey teams have ended their WIAA tournament play, as of this writing both the Cardinals boys’ and girls’ basketball teams are continuing their WIAA tournaments, and the Sun Prairie Media Center will be there with all the coverage. The #3 Cardinals girls’ basketball team, coming off home victories over #14 Middleton and #6 Watertown, will take on #2 Arrowhead in a sectional semifinal on Thursday, March 3, beginning at 7 PM.
