Coming off a very busy year of covering SPHS Cardinals boys’ and girls’ basketball (over 40 games broadcast including a trip to state), for the third consecutive season the Sun Prairie Media Center will be broadcasting a select group of SPHS Cardinal baseball and softball games beginning Saturday, April 6.
“We have received an overwhelmingly positive response to our previous coverage of SPHS baseball and softball games,” said SPMC director Jeff Robbins. “There is something about the sound of the crack of the bat on the radio that is an irreplaceable and welcoming sign of spring. We are looking forward to more radio broadcasts again this year and hopefully following the Cardinals all the way to the state tournaments both in Madison and Grand Chute.”
Calling most games will be James Wyngaard, an announcer who has worked with the SPMC for several years. Zach Sielaff, an experienced broadcaster who first worked with the SPMC this winter when he announced the Cardinals’ game in the girls’ state hockey tournament. “Both of these gentlemen are flat-out awesome on the radio,” said Robbins. “They are knowledgeable, know the players, know the stats, and are a delight to listen to. We’re thrilled to continue to work with both James and Zach.”
Like last year, several of the games that 103.5 FM is set to broadcast will be road games. “The nice thing about broadcasting home games is you get the buzz of the home crowd,” said Robbins. “The nice thing about broadcasting away games is making the harder-to-get-to games available to fans here in Sun Prairie.”
