KSUN PROGRAMMING NOW CLOSED CAPTIONED

The Sun Prairie Media Center is pleased to announce that virtually all programming seen on KSUN now features closed captions for the hearing impaired. These closed captions can be activated by selecting “menu” and then “setup” on Charter Spectrum cable boxes or by selecting “menu” and then “settings” on TDS cable boxes. Captions for individual programs or live streams are easily activated by selecting the “CC” button while watching on sunprairiemediacenter.com. Users of Roku or Apple TV devices should follow their device’s instructions for activating closed captioning. The introduction of closed captioning brings an end to the Media Center’s use of “open captioning,” which are subtitles that are always on the screen and can’t be turned on or off by the viewer. KIDS-4 Registration Now Open for 2021-2022

Here’s your child’s chance to write and produce their own videos by joining the one-of-a-kind KIDS-4 program! KIDS-4 is an after-school media production program run by the Sun Prairie Media Center designed for SPASD students in 4th through 8th grade.   In KIDS-4, students are trained in many areas necessary to create their own television and video productions including cameras, lighting, sound, directing, producing, writing, editing, and animation. While students work with adult staff, their creativity is unfiltered and their work is entirely their own. By creating their own media messages, students become smarter and more critical consumers of others' media messages. The Sun Prairie Media Center is pleased to announce a new collaboration with Christine Bright, founder of the Parenting Game, in a new series of programs imaginatively titled “The Parenting Game.” The 30-minute programs air on KSUN (among other times) at 1 PM and 10 PM Wednesdays and on 103.5 FM The Sun Community Radio at 8 AM Fridays. The program is for any person desiring to foster a healthy relationship with a child and aims to provide information, resources, and actionable strategies. Tuesday Night Tunes returns to the newly-renovated and improved Wetmore Park in 2021 with a full summer of great music. Kicking off the summer schedule on July 13 is a concert sponsored by the Friends of the Sun Prairie Media Center which is also serving as a sixth anniversary celebration of the launch of 103.5 FM The Sun Community Radio, Sun Prairie’s community radio station. Playing at the concert will be Madison Mystery Tour, a Beatles tribute band that specializes in accurate live renditions of the entire Beatles recorded catalog. After winning the sectional title against Janesville Craig, the Sun Prairie Cardinals baseball team have advanced to the WIAA State tournament, where Rob Hamilton’s team have earned the #1 seed.  The state tournament journey starts at the Herr-Baker Stadium in Fond du Lac, where the Cardinals will go up against the #8-seeded Onalaska Hilltoppers on Friday, June 25, at approximately 11:30 AM.  If the Cardinals get past the Hilltoppers they will go onto the Division 1 WIAA semifinals and finals at the Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium in Grand Chute, where they will play at 11:05 AM and (if they win again) at 6:05 PM on Thursday, July 1.  Want to tune in? The Sun Prairie Media Center is happy to announce that it will once again provide live coverage of this year’s Sun Prairie High School graduation ceremony. This year's ceremony is scheduled to take place on Friday, June 11, beginning at 5:30 PM. For the first time, the ceremony will be held at the new Bank of Sun Prairie Stadium at Ashley Field. In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held on Saturday, June 12, at 10 AM, also at the Bank of Sun Prairie Stadium at Ashley Field. Any weather-related decision will be made by the SPASD by the morning of June 11. At the time of this writing, only two tickets were being allowed per graduate.
