MEDIA CENTER SEEKS KIDS-4 INPUT

MEDIA CENTER SEEKS KIDS-4 INPUT

News and Events
As the Sun Prairie Media Center works on deciding what their summer and fall programming will look like in the midst of these uncertain times, staff is asking for community feedback in order to assist them in the decision-making process for upcoming programs. The City of Sun Prairie has recently outlined its reopening plan. As part of the plan, the Sun Prairie Media Center is scheduled to reopen in Phase 2A with KIDS-4 programming possible to return as part of Phase 2B. But, as SMPC director Jeff Robbins admits, being open doesn’t necessarily mean that families will be ready for KIDS-4. “We understand that even as the city hits Phase 2B that some families will have varying degrees of comfort in participation of our programs,” said Robbins. “Even though our…

Programming During the Safer at Home Order

Programming During the Safer at Home Order

News and Events
As the governor’s “Safer at Home” order was widely being reported, SPMC director Jeff Robbins made the difficult decision to suspend community access to the Media Center effective on the afternoon of March 23. The KIDS-4 program had already been suspended as of March 13. While this decision pained the entire SPMC staff – recognizing that the Media Center is built on the idea of community access – it quickly became clear that the step was a necessary one to support the governor’s call to eliminate nonessential travel and to limit community spread of COVID-19. Since March 23, staff has been working from home to, among many other tasks, program the channels and help produce programming. Although media outlets are exempt from the Governor’s order, being a community media center…
