Wisconsin Community Media, in conjunction with the Alliance for Community Media’s Midwest Region, has announced their annual award winners for the 2025 Best of the Midwest Media Fest. The Sun Prairie Media Center is thrilled to announce that no fewer than 15 original shows created for either KSUN NOW, KSUN LIFE, or 103.5 FM The Sun Community Radio are set to receive awards at the fest, which will be held in Pewaukee on Thursday, May 1. The total represents over 13 percent of all awards to be given out at the event. If you know of someone aged 9-14 who loves to make videos, movies, or even podcasts and wants help taking their creativity to the next level, then you need to sign them up for these workshops. These workshops are designed for budding journalists, filmmakers, actors, and social media influencers who want a fun and creative way to express themselves. Participants will be introduced to media production in a fun, hands-on learning environment that is conveniently located – the Media Center is in the same building as the public library. Sun Prairie residents will have some important decisions to make when they head to the polls on April 1. And the Sun Prairie Media Center is offering programming to help residents make those decisions. SPMC broadcasted the SPARC (Sun Prairie Action Resource Coalition) Candidate Forum on March 9 at the Colonial Club. This forum featured candidates for Sun Prairie Mayor, City Council, and Sun Prairie School Board. The forum will re-air several times before the election and it is available to view on-demand at: sunprairiemediacenter.com/ksun-on-demand Recently, “Talk of the Town” moderator Don Hooser also hosted a forum for City Council candidates in competitive races. Coverage is provided by volunteers who are dedicated to bringing local sports coverage to the community. We appreciate the time, and commitment it takes for these announcers to cover these games. Here’s your child’s chance to write and produce their own videos by joining the one-of-a-kind KIDS4 program! KIDS4 is an after-school media production program run by the Sun Prairie Media Center designed for students in 4th through 8th grade.   In KIDS4, students are trained in many areas necessary to create their own television and video productions including cameras, lighting, sound, directing, producing, writing, editing, and animation. While students work with adult staff, their creativity is unfiltered, and their work is entirely their own. By creating their own media messages, students become smarter and more critical consumers of others' media messages. The Sun Prairie Media Center is pleased to be partnering with the Sun Prairie Area School District for a live broadcast of the 2024 Sun Prairie High School graduation ceremony, held this year at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Madison on Friday, June 7, 2024, as well as the 2024 Prairie Phoenix Academy graduation ceremony, to be held in early June. The SPHS West ceremony will start at 5:00pm and the SPHS East ceremony will start at 7:30pm. SPMC’s coverage will be seen live on KSUN Now Charter channel 983 or TDS channels 983/1983.
